Everyone wants to look their best in their photographs. These simple guidelines can make sure that you are the focus of attention.

Make-up should be simple and natural looking. Lipstick should be one shade darker than your natural lip color and avoid lip gloss. Carry face powder to maintain a matte finish and minimize shine.

Hair should be elegant yet comfortable and compliment your look. Men should get haircuts two weeks before scheduled photographs. Women should have any coloring, trims or styling done recently. Bring hairspray, hairbrushes, bobby pins, and hair clips in case windy conditions occur.

Solid colors are recommended for clothing while patterns, stripes, and prints should be avoided as they are distracting and draw attention away from the face. Groups should wear similar tones in matching styles; long sleeves, short sleeves, etc. Dark clothes provide a slimming affect. For black and white photographs wear textures such as denim and avoid red as it appears grey in photos. Children should be changed into the clothes they will wear in the photographs immediately before the session begins.
